- Feb 21Geraldine Olea – I've stopped counting how many times I've been the only woman in the room. It's happened so often it's become background noise. ⚖️ And that's exactly the problem. Leadership meetings. Industry events. Tables where decisions get made. Sometimes I can count the number of women in the entire company on one hand. The numbers confirm what I've been experiencing across tech, space and defence. UNOOSA and the Canadian Space Agency recently published the first-ever Gender Mainstreaming Toolkit for the Space Sector. The data is sobering: • 30% of the global space workforce are women • 19% of board seats • 21% of leadership roles And it gets worse the higher up you look. 📉 This isn't just an ethics issue. It's a business problem. We're building an industry on the cusp of extraordinary growth. And we're doing it with half the talent pool. It's not smart when we're competing globally for talent and innovation. The tools to fix this now exist. Change is happening in pockets around the world. When we filed to register with the USPTO, we were hit with a "Likelihood of Confusion" refusal against a multi-national software corporation.
