- Feb 18PJ U. – 💾 Remember those floppy disks? Big stacks of them. Labeled in marker. Passed around at computer labs and meetups in the early 90s. Full of tools built by students at research universities, hobbyists, and hippie hackers who just wanted to solve a problem and share it with the world. No VC deck. No growth hacking. No billionaire exit strategy. Just: I built a thing. Here, you can have it. That was the soul of freeware. For a while, the web kept that spirit alive. GeoCities. Forums. Linux. Wikipedia. The early internet felt like one giant disk swap — just bigger, faster, and global. And somewhere along the way, we lost it. Software became a vehicle for extraction. Subscriptions for everything. Data harvested. Communities monetized. The open web slowly replaced by walled gardens built to make a handful of people obscenely rich. But something is shifting. AI isn't killing software development. It's democratizing it in a way we haven't seen since those floppy disks were flying around. Today, I built a news aggregator using Claude that pulls English-language climate justice coverage from around the world. Not for a client. Not for ARR. Just because the information should exist and be easy to find. 👉 https://lnkd.in/ePu8eWEm Citizen developers are back. Mission-driven builders are back. The tools are finally powerful enough that you don't need a team of engineers and seed funding to scratch an itch that matters. And the business model? It's not a paywall. It's not a subscription tier. It's a Buy Me a Coffee link on the site. If it helps you, chip in what you can. If it doesn't, no hard feelings. That's the ethos. Always has been. We are entering a golden age of freeware. Not the end of software development — the liberation of it. Build something useful. Give it away. Change something small. That's always been the move. #OpenSource #ClimateJustice #CitizenDeveloper #AIForGood #Freeware #TechForGood #SocialImpact #EnvironmentalJustice #EJ #ClimateAction #EnvironmentalEquity #FrontlinesCommunities #ClimateEquity12
- Jan 23Alore – The Death of the "Work Uniform" and the Birth of the Metropolitan System. The lines between work, home, and social life have blurred. Once, workwear meant suiting up for the office and swapping into casual clothes at day's end. Now, city life is fluid. We are startup founders, creative freelancers, and intrapreneurs who might start in a boardroom and end the day sketching in an art studio or brainstorming in a café. The "generation gap" in fashion is real. The Old Generation values tradition but often at the cost of comfort and movement during a 12-hour desk day. The New generation values individuality and trendiness but is skeptical of overly corporate, "fake" branding. People don’t buy clothes. They buy the version of themselves they’re ready to become. Alore is the bridge. We are redefining metropolitan wear to meet this harmonious, evolving lifestyle. We don't believe you should have to choose between "authority" and "authenticity". How are we bridging the gap? Our clothing is structured enough for a board meeting but engineered with urban-friendly. By focusing on neutral colours and clean silhouettes, we provide a "city-smart" look that appeals to both corporate strategists and creative freelancers. We create pieces that can be mixed and matched across environments, solving the modern pain point of needing separate wardrobes for work, dates, and travel. The modern world doesn't need more "office wear." It needs a system that understands the kinetic energy of a life in motion. Join the #AloreCollective.
